The Sony Xperia users can now update their smartphone with KitKat 4.4 firmware. Though there is no official update on by when there will be an official update for Xperia S, the custom ROM help you to make most use of the phone.
Full credits goes to the Cyanogen Mod team which has come up with an all new release of KitKat 4.4 firmware. To proceed this procedure, make sure that you have rooted your phone. To check the status just download the Root Checker app from Google Play Store.
1.Before start to root your phone, charge your phone up to 75% or more. So, then it never gets switched off during the middle of the process due to low battery. If it happens, this could damage your device. So, try to charge your phone completely, before initiate the updating process.
2.All of us stored some important or personal data on our phone. By trying rooting process, they may get deleted. So, before beginning the rooting process, take a backup of all the data as you feel it is important for future use “especially contact numbers”.
3.Next enable the USB Debugging mode option in your phone by following the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging”. This is very much important so your Sony Xperia S smartphone can communicate with the computer.

1.Initially, you need to download the KitKat 4.4 package. So, download the same from here to your computer.
2.Once downloaded, connect your Sony Xperia S smartphone to the computer using USB cable.
3.After that copy the downloaded file into your phone.
4.Open the command prompt in your computer and enter the below-mentioned command:
Flash boot boot.img
5.Now, turn on your phone and boot the same into the recovery mode by pressing the Volume Up key.
6.If you already have any Rom then do a Nandroid backup so, then you can restore the same at any time. Select “backup and restore > backup” option.
7.Then do a full wipe and select the option “install zip from SD card > choose zip from SD card”.
8.After that select the KitKat 4.4 package file which you have already placed on your phone.
9.Once you have selected the file, it will take 7-8 minutes. After the update is applied successfully, the phone will reboot automatically.
10.In case, if it is not rebooted, do the same manually. After that disconnect your phone from the computer and check whether the phone was successfully rooted or not with the Kit Kat 4.4 firmware.
